A digital humanities project aimed at building an interactive
open-access database of curated
digitally described black novels. Acquired over the last 30 years through public and private donations
the 1
500+ novels in the collection feature over thirty 19th century black-authored novels and numerous rare and understudied texts. \n\nServing as the lead grant writer
in 2016 HBW received an NEH grant to begin the process of metadata extraction and digitization. We are currently pursuing funding through the Council on Library and Information Resources.
