Academic year 2019-2020 is my seventeenth year as an administrator
twelve of those in higher education (three as a department chair
seven as a dean
two (and a half) as an associate vice president) and five in the non-profit sector. My administrative experience includes a variety of responsibilities involving leadership
day-to-day strategic direction
formulation of policies/procedures/processes
as well as project planning
development and implementation. My faculty experience comes from the University of Mary Washington (formerly Mary Washington College) in Fredericksburg
Virginia where I served on the faculty of the Department of Historic Preservation for nine years (1996-2005)
achieving promotion and tenure and becoming department chair
all in 2002. At Mary Washington
I successfully created a new preservation planning emphasis within the major and taught a range of courses all with fieldwork components and an emphasis on experiential learning.
