Deep East Texas Archaeological Consultants (DETAC) specializes in cost and time efficient archaeological investigations to satisfy State and Federal regulatory requirements. DETAC has assisted in projects ranging from private utility right-of-ways to state recreational parks. The staff is experienced at archaeological survey, testing, data recovery and geoarchaeological projects to insure clients are in compliance with State and Federal Cultural Resource Management requirements.
The DETAC staff has experience working with the latest GPS, databases, and GIS applications as needed to conduct fieldwork, analyze artifacts, and prepare reports in compliance with state and federal guidelines. DETAC maintains annual permits with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the National Forest and Grasslands of Texas (US Forest Service) as well as a successful record of obtaining and completing Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) permits and Texas Antiquities Permits (TAP).
Adjunct Faculty
My responsibilities included teaching three classes each semester and summer field schools, directing the Archaeology Laboratory (which included supervising work study students, student volunteers, making collections available to researchers, and maintaining the curation facility). The classes I taught included Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Introduction to Physical Anthropology, Introduction to Archaeology, Human Physical Variation, Prehistory of North America, Native American Cultures, and Archaeological Field School. I worked with the US Forest Service Archaeologists in the planning and implementation of the 46th annual Caddo Conference. During the first year at SFA, I was the only anthropologist on staff and the only anthropologist teaching Physical Anthropology and Archaeology classes the second year. In this time, I prepared seven students to present original research at professional conferences. I increased Anthropology minor enrolment from 3 to 20 students and was featured in the Pine Log (student news paper) as teaching two of the top 10 classes on campus in the Spring of 2005.

I have 20 years of experience in Archaeology ranging from the Rio Grand Valley to the Ouachita Mountains and from west Texas to Georga. I have worked on a variety of projects ranging from small, independent investigations to directing as many as 25 other archaeologists working in crews and I have experience in every aspect of project development from proposal writing through fieldwork and analysis to the final report. All of the field work and reports for these projects met federal and state guidelines for archeological and historical preservation. They include Phase I Pedestrian survey to Phase III Data Recovery and Geoarchaeological Investigations.
