Toussaint Romain was a public defender in Charlotte and he taught Criminal Justice and Criminology courses at UNC-Charlotte. He is a community advocate who has spoken across the nation, taught CLEs and developed community initiatives for his local community.
Romain, who studied overseas at the European Court for Human Rights, became a key civil rights leader and peacekeeper during the protests of the shooting of Keith Lamont Scott in September 2016. He has received several awards and honorable recognitions.

Drug Researcher
I interviewed those recently arrested at detention facilities about their communities, their drug abuse and their criminal activity. This information was used by program developers and treatment facilities to place treatment centers in the communities in order to address the drugs being used in hopes of circumventing crime.

I studied abroad at this university with a former US Attorney General and visited the European Court for Human Rights, European Parliament, and the Council of Europe while learning about human right issues in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Human Trafficking on a global level.
