This is honestly the easiest class that I've ever taken. For the most part you can find the answers online, plus she gives a decent amount of extra credit. You do have to do some research on the discussion posts as they are about things you don't cover in lecture, so you have to work on those. She is a little nitpicky when grading assignments and discussions, but not too bad.
Awesome
Prof. Tonya removed the large group project and changed it to an individual youtube project instead. It took a lot of work! You'll be able to find all exam answers online and in the unit quizzes. The discussions are about the material you haven't covered in class, but that's actually the point. We had lots of extra credit and it honestly took a lot of work bc it's 5 weeks.

College Station, Texas
I am a Ph.D. graduate from Texas A&M University whose thesis work focused on studying mycobacterial virulence regulators in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Currently, I am a research associate for Dr. Juliana Rangel, and I help maintain the molecular honey bee lab. My current work focuses on mitotyping feral honey bee colonies and studying the transcriptome that is important for honey bee fertility.
Additionally, I teach introductory biology (Biol 1406) and Microbiology (Biol 2420) at Blinn College. I also teach online and in person Honey Bee Biology (Ento 320) at Texas A&M University in the Department of Entomology.
Graduate Assistant Researcher
I am a student in Dr. Jeffrey Cirillo's lab, whose primary focus is to study host-pathogen interactions of bacterial pulmonary pathogens such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. My project focuses on characterizing and studying a TB gene in its role in virulence.
Postdoctoral Fellow
Under the advisor of Dr. Jeffrey Cirillo, I worked on a Merck funded project characterizing clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa and K. pneumoniae. This work included identifying the antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of these isolates and creating bioluminescent strains to be used in future guinea pig pneumonia models for further drug testing.
Adjunct Faculty
I teach introductory biology courses and the accompanying laboratory sections to students at Blinn College. My duties include creating my own lecture materials, testing materials, holding office hours, and attending professional development seminars.
Instructor
I teach the Fall in person Ento-320 course "Honey Bee Biology" and both the Spring and Fall online "Honey Bee Biology."
Research Associate
Tonya worked at Texas A&M University as a Research Associate
Quality Control
I sampled and tested products received and produced by JLM Pharmatech to ensure they met company and USP standards. I also monitored the local facility (water quality, instrument cleanliness, etc), to verify that everything passed JLM Pharmatech and USP standards and that production may continue.
