Assistant Professor
I am a faculty member in the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan. My interests are in HIV/AIDS, Indigenous health, narrative inquiry methodology, community health, critical theories, marginalized populations, corrections, substance use, and student success.
Assistant Professor and Department Head
I taught in the NEPS (Nursing Education Program of Saskatchewan) from 2003 to 2010. From 2010 to 2016 I taught in the Indigenous Health Studies program. I also held the positions of Director of Health Science and Department Head (Indigenous Education, Indigenous Health, and Indigenous Social Work units).
Registered Nurse
Registered Nursing duties and responsibilities in the areas of intensive coronary care (Royal University Hospital), intensive care unit (St. Paul's Hospital), Cardiology (RUH 6000), and Orthopedics/trauma (RUH 5300). I also obtained my Basic Critical Care Certificate through SIAST (now known as the SK Polytechnic) during this time period.
Registered Nurse
I worked at the Victoria hospital on pediatric and surgical wards. I was also part of a HIV sero-prevalence study through Health Canada where I developed an interest in research. For 15 years I was involved in the Anonymous HIV Testing Pilot Project for Correctional Service of Canada. I developed and implemented the project at the Saskatchewan Federal Penitentiary. Currently I conduct some education and health testing out of ACCESS place with Young Offenders.
