Teaching: My teaching philosophy is rooted in the idea that my role in the classroom is to facilitate student learning through critical engagement with the material, other students and myself.
Research: My primary research agenda focuses on the ways in which womanist rhetoric and theology function as part of daily discourses infused in the lived narratives of African American women.
Service: I engage in service at the university, regional and national level as an active member of the communication discipline.

For each course, I develop content that meets and extends the learning objectives outlined by the department and the University for lower division core and upper division courses for majors and non-majors.
• Aptly teach multiple sections and courses
• Teaching multiple courses using online tools to enhance student learning
• develop creative and interactive lectures and assignments that utilize film,
television, music and literary text for critical learning.
• Enthusiastically engaging students in a critical pedagogy that locates and connects active
learning, understanding and reflection to critical thinking about culture, gender, race and class
• Actively implement culture and critical culture theories to engage students in active learning,
understanding and reflection in the public speaking and communication studies classroom

Faculty and staff are nominated to this committee by university administration to lead the university in Core Curriculum development and redesign. The goal of this committee is create at university core curriculum that responds to the new objectives and component areas identified by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

As Coordinator I engage in planning and recruiting efforts to expand student enrollment in the Communication Program at NWHC. I've created fliers, brochures, post cards, web content and letters designed to recruit students to major in Communication. Some of the responsibilities as coordinator include:
o Preadmission Advising Appointments with Perspective Students
o Creation of Recruitment and Public Relations Materials
o Planning of Five Year Course Rotation
o Letter Writing and Recruiting Campaign “Return to Pantherland Northwest”
