      Assistant Professor

I research strategic multimedia messaging—including message discovery, message interpretation, and message creation. This line of inquiry primarily includes visual communication (photography and videography), interpersonal communication, and journalistic feature writing. As a researcher in the Digital Media Research and Development Lab, I am using eye-tracking technology to create a model of visual literacy development in undergraduate agricultural communications students. I teach courses including advanced agricultural media writing, agricultural photojournalism, visual communication research, and principles of adult education. I co-led a study abroad program to Namibia for five years, assisted with international agricultural development programs that operate in Uganda, Ghana, and Liberia, and serve in various professional association leadership roles both domestically and internationally.
