I am a certified instructor in earth sciences with 18 years of experience teaching students from the middle school level to college students. I am currently taking courses in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at the Community College of Baltimore County. My future goal is to become a GIS professional in government or private industry. I have some experience with using GIS software and I created a geographic lesson for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources utilizing Landsat images to identify different types of ground cover and land use from space. I have also created a simple lesson for middle school students utilizing free ArcExplorer software to track changes in impervious surfaces in the Baltimore region. I received my Master of Science from Johns Hopkins University in Earth Science Education and worked an internship under Dr. Jay Morgan at Towson University. My Bachelors degree is from Maine Maritime Academy where I received my degree in Marine Engineering Technology and worked as a maritime engineer for 5 years.
