My primary passion is teaching the science of Psychology at the collegiate level. I have been fortunate to do this for the past 12 years in both a formal classroom setting as well as mentoring undergraduates during their own academic pursuits. Over this time I have taught Introductory Psychology, Human Development, Cognitive Psychology, Psychological Statistics and special topics courses (e.g. Music Psychology & Communicating in Psychology) at a variety of institutions. In doing so, I have experience teaching and managing class sizes from as small as 10 students to as large as 250 students.
Not only do I teach Psychology as a science, but I actively engage in research related to the field. Broadly put, my research interests involve auditory perception and cognition with a focus on human vocalization. I have published research examining how humans process self-generated auditory events (i.e. singing musical notes or producing speech) in order to maintain fluent production. My current research focuses on human pitch imitation abilities in musical and speech contexts. Broadly the research focuses on how one uses an auditory input and transforms this precept into a motor code for execution. My collaborators and I have a specific theoretical focus on the role of multimodal imagery in this process.
Check out my published first author papers below or contact me for more information. I'm always looking for interested undergraduate students to work with and mentor as well as professional collaborations. I've also included my CV for review as well.
