O'Neill do really want you to pass his class. He will do check you up in the first few classes just to make sure you are following the discussion. Go visit him on his office hours and he will basically do personal lecture for you. For you to pass his class, you need to do the homework since he's very particular with those when it comes on giving grades and always check the test review sessions.
