The impact of Chinese government censorship on US based companies entering the China market is a critical external environmental factor that can affect the success of the venture. Companies in the United States understand how to manage and operate a business in a free enterprise system. However
that knowledge has not prepared them for the reality of doing business in China. Companies such as Google have learned that government censorship can significantly limit the ability to compete in the China market. The restrictions that the Chinese government can impose represent significant barriers for companies accustomed to free trade. Foreign companies have two choices when it comes to Chinese censorship
to comply or leave.
Government Censorship – A Way to Regulate Commerce
Economist and Nobel Prize winner Paul Samuelson is credited with having stated that the stock market has predicted seven of the last three recessions
and his joke has been widely circulated as economists have tried to forecast the end of the Great Recession
the direction of the stock market
and other aspects of the U.S. economy. This statement suggests the difficulty in accurately interpreting key economic indicators. The same difficulty exists for experts who try to understand and predict workforce trends.

and retain talent increases and the supply of talented people decreases. How can companies compete for talent? This article reviews the essential elements of General Electric’s effective talent-management process and compares them with those of a federal government agency. The purpose of this exercise is to highlight the key factors of success and determine how they can be transferred to obtain successful outcomes in other organizations.
