Awesome
I had a great time in her class as long as I read the book. Every day she was funny and interesting. I had her 8 am class and she was great to start to the day. The class was only challenging if you don't read the book or do your homework.

Prof Phinney teaches Information Science (ISTM 210)! You will learn a lot of skills by doing the homework. Her lectures are funny, but you can easily get distracted. You should go to class if you want to get a good grade on the tests. Watch out for the homework. You'll be tested on all of it.. Overall, if you go to class and read the book you'll be just fine!
Good
I suggest getting with someone to help with WCL so you can ask the GA questions. When you read the Prometheus chapters, be very focused, she asks very random, detailed questions. Get mid/high B's on the test and 90s/100s on the Prometheus A.
Awesome
Phinney, Theresa I went to class every day (took great notes), read the textbook (three days before a test), studied on quizlet, and did the Prometheus hw well in advance. I wanted an 'A,' so I worked for the 'A,' & I got my 'A.'
Awesome
She is definitely one of my favorite professors. She gives interesting lectures and genuinely cares about her students. I would highly recommend taking her as a professor!
Awesome
Prof. Phinney was an awesome professor! She's really funny and she's able to make her lectures interesting. There are lots of reading to do, but if you read before class, you'll understand everything beter. Most of the homework are done online and are excel type of stuff. There were also tasks like writing HTML and making a website. I highly recommend taking her as a professor.
Good
Prof. Phinney is very helpful and smart. First and third exams are vocabulary-based. Second and fourth exams were a mixture of access, excel, and vocabulary. Do all the readings and make sure to get an A on the first exam.
Awesome
Professor Phinney is a great professor . She makes a relatively boring subject interesting. The tests are extremely specific. Anything she says in class or that is printed in the textbook is fair game for a test. Put in the work, and you will get the grade you want.
Awesome
Professor Phinney is my favorite this semester. Her class was very informative and practical too. Just beware of her extremely specific tests. This class is an easy B, but a hard A.
Awesome
Professor Finney is awesome. This course is difficult for sure. But she tries to make it understandable. This was my first programming language and the way she explained the topics made a lot of sense to me. On the other hand, this class takes a lot of work, practice and reading the textbook. She's very kind and approachable though.
Good
I suggest you attend lectures and write down everything she says! Memorize all the terms as well in the online book!
Good
Professor Phinney's lectures are very exciting and interesting. Be sure to really pay attention in her lectures because, she can put really tedious things on her tests. Also, read the book several times and study vocabulary for tests, as they are very strong on vocabulary. Homework is boring and can take hours. Overall, this class is an easy B but a tough on A.
Awesome
Such an amazing class! Grades come from a lot of things, so don't be too worried if you don't perform well on the examinations. You must attend class because she will ask you specific questions that you will only be able to answer if you are present. She manages to make even the most boring lectures exciting.

She creates very precise test questions, requiring you to read the textbook and pay attention during lectures. Homework can be boring and time-consuming at times. I personally didn't like this course. I barely made it through with an A.
Awesome
I loved Professor Phinney. She's hilarious, energetic, and fun to listen to. For her class, attendance is a must. The tests were vocabulary-heavy. Therefore, I find it very helpful to create flashcards. I suggest that you must read the textbook diligently, take time to study, and then you'll be fine.
Good
Professor Phinney doesn't like answering emails. She tries to get you into office hours for any questions you have, even though they can really be answered via email. Attendance is not mandatory. However, much of the material about exams only comes from the lectures. This also applies to textbook readings and homework. Overall, this class is an easy A if you do not slack off.
Awesome
Professor Phinney is incredible. Her class is not as bad as some say. It's a fairly easy B and a hard A if you do the work. Quizlet was a lifesaver when studying for them. Her exams are very specific. Homework makes up a big part of your grade so make sure you do it. Overall, if you put effort in, you will learn a lot in such a short time.
Awesome
Professor Phinney is amazing. Exams have a lot of Microsoft Office, so pay close attention to these units. The exams are tough, but doable though. I suggest you go to class since she'll provide answers. Also, make sure you take the knowledge tests at the end of each chapter of the book. Overall, this is an easy B hard A class, but she's hilarious and has a lot of personalities, which makes the lectures bearable.
Awesome
I really enjoyed listening to Professor Phinney's lectures. Her class consists of homework due every Friday, four exams containing very specific details from the lectures and the book, and two projects that were quite time-consuming. So, get ready to spend a lot of time on this lesson, since she will really make you work for your grade. Overall, this class is an easy B but a hard A.
Awesome
Professor Phinney is amazing. She gives engaging lectures and teaches useful topics like Excel, Access, HTML, and Wix. Phinney facts were just extra credit. But she did put a lot of the things in the lecture on the test as well. I suggest you read the textbook to pass the exams and you'll do just fine.
Good
Make sure to dive into the chapters and delve into the "Phinney facts" she shares throughout her lectures, you can use them. Her genuine concern for her students shines through. While the core material might not have clicked for me, learning HTML, Excel, databases, and Wix was invaluable. These are all platforms I'm certain will come in handy down the road. Her expertise is evident, she really knows her stuff.
Awesome
Watch out, ISTM 250 is a tough class for people who don't know programming, regardless of who your teacher is. This professor is really positive and knowledgeable. She does her best to teach a very hard and quick class. You'll need to put in a lot of time on your own to get an A in this course. She does everything she can to help with how tough it is though.

Her tests can be a bit tough. However, she consistently tells us that the things in the textbook matter more than the questions in her lectures. So, if you remember what's in the textbook, you should be good. We also have weekly projects using Excel and Access, which can be challenging at times. But don't worry, you can always ask the teaching assistants for help if you need it. This class is what you strive to make it. Stay positive and keep frustration at bay.
