Ward
Teresa is a Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Washington, Seattle. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Allentown College, master’s degree from Drexel University, and PhD from the University of California San Francisco. She completed a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems at the University of Washington. Prior to her PhD, Dr. Ward worked as a nurse practitioner in a pediatric sleep disorders center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Her research focuses on sleep health in children with chronic illnesses (juvenile idiopathic arthritis [JIA]), autism, chronic pain, lupus, and their families. Her current research focuses on the development of self-management intervention to promote sleep in children living with chronic health conditions. In 2010, Dr. Ward was a recipient of an Early Investigator RO1 that examined sleep disordered breathing in JIA. Currently, she is Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators of several grants that focus on the development and testing of interventions that integrate technology and self-management skills to promote sleep. Teresa is also the Co-Director of a P30 Center for Innovation in Sleep Self-Management at the University of Washington, School of Nursing. She is a member of the Bell Time Analysis -Later School Start Times Workgroup, board member of the Washington Arthritis Foundation, and volunteers for Providing Early Parenting Support (PEPS) in King County.
