Center for Metropolitan Density (CfMD) is a component of College of Architecture
Planning and Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington. The center’s mission is to conduct independent research on density
including suburban scale density
in order to promote economically productive
operationally effective
fiscally efficient
environmentally responsible
and culturally supportive environments. CfMD fulfills its mission by conducting sponsored research
convening educational programs
and consulting with industry partners.

Dr. Özdil is an Associate Professor for the Program in Landscape Architecture and Associate Director for Research for The Center for Metropolitan Density at The University of Texas at Arlington. His scholarly and professional interests lie in landscape architecture
urban design
sustainable and green design practices. His teaching focuses on environmental planning and design with GIS
and urban design with specific concentration to North Texas region. His recent research activities focus on economical
environmental and social value creation through sustainable landscape architecture
urban design and physical planning with particular emphasis on mixed-use developments
TOD's and high density urban areas. Dr. Özdil previously held research and teaching positions at the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University (TAMU)
and Dallas Urban Solution Center of TAMU System. He is currently a Board Member of the North Texas Congress for the New Urbanism and active research-team member of Vision North Texas. He is the author of the book “Economic Value of Urban Design”
in addition to numerous scholarly presentation and publications.
