The Earth's Climate\nThe Earth's Climate WEB\nI designed and teach this course both live and on line. This course provides an overview of the Earth’s climate system. We discuss the major physical and chemical components of the climate system including climate forcing
climate responses
and internal feedback mechanisms. Topics include the use of paleoclimate proxies to reconstruct and interpret the history of the Earth’s past climate. With use of such proxies
we examine natural climate variability at various time scales in an effort to best understand anthropogenic influences on a naturally changing climate. \n\nPhysical Geology\nPhysical Geology LAB\nI designed and teach this course which includes both a lecture and lab component. This course introduces the materials that make up the Earth
and the processes that modify and continually shape it. Lecture topics include plate tectonics
volcanoes
mountain building and earthquakes. We additionally examine rock and mineral formation
rock deformation
geologic time
relative and radiometric dating
and groundwater. Laboratories reinforce lecture material and develop skills in rock and mineral identification
map interpretation
and relative dating.
