Dr. Rakshit has a strong background in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology. His research interests include bioenergy and biorefining, food safety,security and nutraceuticals.
He also has considerable experience in university administration and has served in various positions including Vice President Research at the Asian Institute of Technology.
He created the Centre of Excellence of Sustainable Development in the context of Climate Change (SDCC) at AIT. He also developed the AIT Research Strategy taking into account specific research areas of strength and interdisciplinary teams at the institute.
He has worked on a number of Boards and steering committees for projects in Asia and Africa with the support of developments agencies in the EU, Swedish Sida, Canadian CIDA, IFAD, IDRC, etc.
He is trying to develop research projects with the biorefining industry in Canada and in other parts of the world. He is keen to collaborate with universities and research institutions for partnerships of mutual interest.
