Professor and Department Chair
A department chair at the Anderson School of Management is responsible for teaching schedules, annual faculty evaluations, budgeting department funds, and handling student requests. A chair is also involved weekly in planning for school initiatives along with three other department chairs, two associate deans, and the dean of the schoool. A chair is a key connection between the faculty in a department and the administrative level of the school and the university. Budget cuts in the face of higher enrollments is our greatest challenge today.
Community Advisory Board UNM Hospitals Family Practice Clinic
I serve as a community advisor to the UNM Family Practice Clinic. The board is made up of doctors, administrators, nurses, and patients. I have been a patient there for 20 years. And I am very interested in health care system improvement. This clinic is very good already.
Campus Development Advisory Committee
As of August 2013 I have taken on the role of committee chair. The committee provides a forum in which capital projects are presented and discussed.
