Sofia V. Gonzalez is a Northern California native currently living and working in San Diego, California. Raised in Marin County, California, Sofia is inspired by her natural surroundings and uses processes of sewing, staining, and color to explore her sense of place. Sofia received her MFA at California College of the Arts in San Francisco in 2014 where she focused on furthering her skills in textiles and natural dye techniques. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States including San Francisco, CA, Chicago, IL, and throughout the South including Arkansas and Texas.

Graphic Designer
– Designed digital and print collateral for various government and non-profit agencies, including: Arkansas Department of Education, Wildwood Park for the Arts, YWCA San Francisco, the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), and the Association of Northern Oncologists (ANCO)
– Developed branding and logo design for web and print
– Implemented existing branding style requirements into brochures, save the dates, print and digital mail, and publications for the YWCA, UCSF and ANCO to be used for various events and patrons
Part-Time Faculty
– Taught two sections with 30 students each of Introduction to Visual Art, an art appreciation course for non-art majors that fulfills the CORE requirement necessary for transferring to another university.
– Designed presentations and interactive activities to engage non-art majors in contemporary art around the Little Rock community, including planning two field trips to art galleries.
– Developed tests and research paper guidelines.
Adjunct Professor, Department of Art
– Taught two studio classes of 20 to 30 students each per semester, including Two-Dimensional Design and Fibers.
– Developed projects to match and exceed the course requirements of a foundational, required studio course for the school’s art program.
– Advised students on future classes and career opportunities in the arts after graduation.

Kid’s Art Teacher
– Developed after school art activities for children ages 3 to 8, weekly
