Assistant Professor
Shannon worked at Pacific Lutheran University as a Assistant Professor
Ph.D. in Biological Sciences
My thesis work aimed at understanding the role of cellular factors in infection and disease pathogenesis of retroviruses. The retrovirus family includes important human pathogens such as HIV. My work, being completed in the laboratory of Dr. John Young at the Salk Institute may lead to a better understanding of the mechanisms retroviruses use to cause diseases such as cancer and AIDS.
Teaching Assistant Consultant
Classroom observation, consultation of graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants, organization of materials, new teaching assistant training.
SEPAL Postdoctoral Fellow
The Science Education Partnership and Assessment Laboratory (SEPAL) at San Francisco State University is a community of researchers and educators interested in how students learn biology and how we can more effectively teach. I joined SEPAL as a postdoc in February 2013 to study how faculty development programs such as CCB FEST impact faculty and the students they teach.
