Poor
His lectures were tedious and overly long. When the lectures were shifted on the internet, one ppt featured 70 slides (the most of which were worthless graphs that didn't help with tests or homework). Exams and quizzes are challenging. He expects you to know a lot of information. He wasn't a terrible guy, but he was a poor professor.
Awful
Wouldn't recommend this class at all. His midterm and final exams consisted of regurgitating facts from the textbook that he had memorized; no engineering knowledge was necessary. His quiz doesn't seem to be aligned with the lesson, so forget about studying or even doing well unless you are a brilliant writer and have a decent understanding of materials science. He curved down as well, and the final was taken by surprise.
Awful
This course is interesting. However, Professor Balawi is not a good professor to learn with. So do not expect for a good grade. Homework and project were somewhat overloaded. The quizzes, midterm and final exams, were nothing more like homework or slides. It's useless in the industry. I have a position of materials. Avoid this class to save your sanity, GPA, learning and time.
Awful
Professor Balawi is the definition of memorization as opposed to thinking on your own. His midterm grades consist of 40 True or False, 20 MC, 12 short answers, and 4 free responses. His short answer requires you to draw phase diagrams and a graph memorized from any part of the book. Honestly, there's no time to finish the exam. He only cares about the answer, without any credit, otherwise, you're wrong. I suggest you avoid his class as much as possible.
Awful
Professor Balawi's lectures and classes are unorganized. I couldn't be happier to have passed after flunking so badly in the finals. And thank God I survived. Avoid this professor at all costs.
Awful
Professor Balawi's exams and quizzes are worth a lot. Both the grading and content were shady. Also, there's a lot of work for the design project and homework. He gave extra credit though, but the link was broken so there's no way to submit it.
