Sev joined J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College’s School of Mathematics, Sciences and Engineering in 2007 as an adjunct chemistry instructor until coming aboard as fulltime chemistry faculty in 2011. He hails from the Washington D.C. metro area where he earned his BS in biochemistry at the University of Maryland at College Park, and an MS in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. Aside from teaching, Sev enjoys a wealth of administrative and business experience in the field of analytical sciences. In 1991 he founded AccuQual Laboratories, Inc., a successful environmental testing laboratory, which he directed and managed until sold in 2001. Thereafter, he held senior-level managerial and administrative positions for various private and state laboratories before joining Reynolds. As only one of two fulltime chemistry faculty, in addition to his regular instructional responsibilities Sev is charged with oversight of the Parham Road Campus chemistry laboratories. He teaches general, college, and bio-organic chemistry to a diverse student body comprised of approximately 19000 students at the third largest community college in the State of Virginia.
