Performed computer technical support over the phone with customers who purchased extended warranty coverage for their PCs. \n\nMy general responsibilities included determining over the phone whether the customer was having a hardware or software issue and sending technicians to the customers home to repair the computers.\n\nI was utilized on a regular basis to diffuse difficult customers who were irate or belligerent.

I direct the daily operation of Testing & Assessment Services at Brigham Young University - Idaho. Daily
I work with others across campus
in the Testing Center
and across higher education to improve the way we assess our students. My responsibilities also include a large number of student employees who work as proctors
secretaries
remote proctors
trainers and leaders over other students. Though I serve as a Director
these employees are the ones that make the Testing Center a great place to work and perform the important services we provide to university students
faculty members and those in the community.\n\nWorking with faculty members directly to facilitate more effective assessment of course level outcomes has been the impetus of our efforts recently. Combining these efforts with the utilization of formative and authentic measures for student learning
retention and competencies has been transformational.\n\nPart of my responsibilities in this role is to be directly responsible for over 120 employees
including their training
professional development
and the overall workplace environment and culture. The culture
in particular
has improved dramatically over the past few years
which has been particularly satisfying.\n\nUtilizing the skills and expertise of all of the employees
we have been able to make a myriad of positive and relatively inexpensive changes to the Testing Center and have impacted campus as a whole. The most significant of these changes is currently underway as we are implementing remote proctoring to allow us to bring our services to all students both online and on campus across the world. This also allows us to scale our efforts significantly.\n\nIn essence
my responsibilities entail the overall direction
function
culture and personnel management of Testing & Assessment Services
directly affecting how faculty measure student learning and improve the educational process
which changes on a daily basis. It is a lot of fun!
Testing Center Director
What started as an internship my senior year of my undergraduate work turned into a full-time position. This was a time in the cellular industry where the majority of people did not have cell phones and they began to see the need for them. Mountain States Wireless was an authorized dealer for Edge Wireless
which was a partner with AT&T at the time. \n\nI began in a sales position and quickly gained more responsibility in the company. \n\nDuring my work at MSW I was formally recognized as one of the three most profitable employees from 2003 - 2006
by the volume of sales that I handled. \n\nI trained 18 employees and executed a regular up-training program for managers and staff across the 10 stores in the company.\n\nI was asked to become the Purchasing Manager of MSW
which meant that I was solely responsible to purchase accessories weekly for all 10 stores. Seeing a need for a better inventory control system
I researched
purchased and implemented and maintained an inventory control system with a complex server across the company. With the new system
training and more data driven purchasing decisions I directly reduced overhead by multiples and drastically increased vital cash flow. We also had far less shrinkage with the more effective measures to prevent loss.\n \nWith my education and experience in marketing
I produced radio
and TV advertisements to promote customer awareness and sales. These were used in the cities where all 10 stores were located and we saw marked increases in consumer awareness
which translated into greater sales for the company.\n\nIn an effort to measure and track employee profitability and other dashboard measures
I developed sales reports in Excel to help provide important data. Using these measures
the owner was able to identify employees that needed additional training
discipline or praise. Sales contests were more effective with these measures and we were able to pointedly target specific inventory to move.

This was the official merchandizer for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics\n\nDuring this time I managed 12 employees during 8 hour shifts while coordinating breaks during the Olympic games. We sold all manner of apparel and other merchandise to the patrons of the Winter Olympics. We had several stations at the Olympic Park at Park City.\n\nPart of my duties included handling the cash at the site where I was stationed. I balanced cash registers twice daily and made deposits each day.\n\nWith the immense crowds
the demand for apparel and the business needs
I ordered inventory on a regular basis and organized shelves when such inventory arrived at the site. Communicating to those in charge of inventory as well as other locations on the mountain was crucial for this effort.

I had a blast waiting tables at Chili's. It was a great opportunity to develop my interpersonal skills and gain valuable experiences. I only left because I was preparing to go to college at the time.

During this time I was personally responsible for determining recipients and properly allocating millions of dollars of scholarship funds annually. I oversaw the application process and ensured the expenditure of all philanthropic and appropriated scholarship accounts.\n\nI was accountable for the proper budgeting of and spending from hundreds of unique scholarship accounts set up by generous donors. Periodically I would meet with these donors as well as recipients of their generosity to help them to experience the true benefit of such gifts. \n\nDaily responsibilities demanded that I demonstrate leadership and judgment abilities in admissions and scholarship committees in making decisions on petitions from students.\n\nI had the privilege to travel across the country to hold recruiting firesides and meetings with high school students in an effort to inform them of the benefits of attending BYU-Idaho. Speaking to others in groups ranging from a few people to over 1200 gave me the opportunity to express my love for the university that provided my own undergraduate education.\n\nI helped to facilitate significant changes regarding the merging of two independent offices within weeks of beginning this position. Through the experience
I learned much about organizational behavior and how people react in challenging changes.\n\nDuring my tenure in this position I personally implemented a student leadership model to accomplish far more and increase efficiencies with far less budget. Giving students tremendous leadership experience and seeing their personal development and growth was one of the highlights of this initiative.\n\nI personally supervised over 30 student employees during their training
daily tasks
and overall performance.

Financial Aid Counselor
The Financial Aid Office was attempting an office restructure. For the short period of time that I was considered a \"Financial Aid Counselor\" I ultimately performed the same tasks as when I was the \"Scholarships Coordinator
while simultaneously learning the complex government regulations for Federal Aid programs.

I worked in the call center in Golden Colorado prior to going to college. My main responsibilities at the time were taking incoming claim calls and taking care of the customer's needs by dispatching adjusters or other representatives to the appropriate location.\n\nI quickly became a trainer for new employees and had insurance adjusters who visited the call center sit with me to gain additional perspective on call center operations.
