Awful
Professor Hegerty's notes are everywhere. He does not care about students at all and is rude! He waited 4 months before telling me that I was failing class. He never lets students know how they are doing. He just doesn't care, even if you go to class and dedicate yourself and try. I wish I had followed my instinct and didn't take this class! I'm just glad this was an elective.
Awesome
Prof. Scott is amazing! He gave few homework assignments and exams are completely based off of material discussed in lectures. Textbook isn't necessary. I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to pass this class because a B is basically a 75% - 89%. He gives out study guides for his exams and this actually includes everything.
Awesome
Professor Hegerty is great and you'll learn a lot from him. His class doesn't requires textbooks. It has free online forms and his notes are on PDF too. The class consists of 24 quizzes which he calls homework with 24 modules covered. There's no timer for these assignments or quizzes. In addition, there's a one page project and three timed exams. For visual students, he also shares his own YouTube videos. The grades were scaled as what others mentioned. I suggest you take his class.
Northeastern Illinois University - Economics
I am an economist and economic geographer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois. I specialize in international macroeconomics and urban/economic geography.
I am currently an Associate Professor of Economics at Northeastern Illinois University on the Northwest Side of Chicago. I am also heading the department as program Coordinator. I have taught at Canisius College in Buffalo (NY), Beloit College (WI), Milwaukee Area Technical College, and UWM, and have served as a visiting professor at the University of Warsaw.
My research combines economics, geography, and statistical methods. In macroeconomics, I examine exchange markets, credit growth, commodity prices, and international spillovers in Central Europe and other emerging markets; and in geography, I look at inner–city issues such as economic deprivation, bank access, and crime.
My main area of interest involves financial access in the U.S. and abroad; related to this, I also give talks to the NEIU community on various topics related to financial literacy. In addition, I work as an English–language editor for professional journals and individual manuscripts.
I received my Bachelor of Science in History from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. My specialization was in Eastern Europe and the Baltic region, but my thesis examined mid–20th–century expressway expansion in inner–city Milwaukee. I also studied International Relations (and got my first teaching experience) in UWEC’s Political Science department. After working in publishing for a few years, I went back to school for my M.A. in Economics from UW–Milwaukee, and continued on to earn a Ph.D. from UWM in 2007.
In my spare time, I enjoy and play music of all types. I particularly like “old school” R&B, the classical works of Igor Stravinsky, norteña, Afrobeat, and Russian pop. I have played bass in a number of bands and gospel groups, and am currently working on performing both original and classic children’s songs on guitar.
