During a course in EcoFeminism in the Fall of 2014 I was fortunate enough to participate in a multi student trek to New York City to participate in the People's Climate March. This March went down in history
as over 400
000 people gathered to protest fracking and other harmful behaviors that are being practiced world-wide that are contributing to climate change. Five students rode on a bus from Athens
Georgia to NYC
having only short rest stops during the three-day trip. Our group traveled with the Georgia Climate Coalition and many other activists from the surrounding region in order to show support for the cause.

#HowSafeAreWe
Following a lack of public response to multiple reported assaults on campus after the first week of classes
a group of concerned students created the hashtag #HowSafeAreWe in order to urge Kennesaw State University's administration to publicly respond to these incidents. Following the creating of the hashtag and a resoundingly positive response from other students and members of the community
meetings were held with Student Government in order to discuss our concerns and collectively decide how to move forward. The university has since released an app for students concerned about personal safety to use
as well as discussing plans on how to make campus safety programs more accessible.
A Voice for Them
This installation was the first event held after YESbody was founded in August of 2014. This installation was created in order to bring attention to statistics and stories from rape and sexual assault victims. We compiled credible statistics
quotes from survivors
and other visual representations for victims such as underwear
cardboard cut-outs
bedsheets
and a mattress (which was specifically brought out to show solidarity with Emma Sulkowicz). We gathered each morning and evening to set up and break down the display. Students were welcomed and asked to submit quotes and commentary at a station on campus green.
Mind Body and Soul
This event was held the weekend prior to Valentine's day. I hosted this event as the serving head of the Sex and Body Positivity Committee for YESbody. As a group of student activists
we chose to highlight on multiple issues during each event. I collaborated with the Interpersonal Violence Center on campus
the Feminist Women's Health Center in Atlanta
and a Passion Parties representative from the Kennesaw area in order to start multiple conversations on campus. Four tables were set up on campus green
each to highlight a specific issue; Masturbation
Sexual Health and Safe Sex
Interpersonal Violence and Relationship Abuse
and Self-Love. As a group
we gathered many items to host a raffle in order to raise funds for our brand-new student organization
as this was only our second semester in action. I emceed the event.
