I am a Ph.D. student in Sociology at Georgia State University with a concentration in Race and Urban Studies. I received my Master's in sociology from Georgia State University in December of 2018. I graduated with honors from Roosevelt University in May of 2015 with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Psychology.
Born and raised on Chicago’s Southside, my interests in community research wer sparked by a passion to understand the city’s racial and economic stratification as it relates to education and gang activity, as well as a passion for improving the community organizations in urban areas that work to combat the causes and symptoms of systemic inequality. As a long-time community activist, I am looking for opportunities to work and advocate for social change for a more equitable and sustainable future.
My research interests include urban development and gentrification, housing inequality, health disparities, juvenile delinquency, racial/economic inequity in education, intervention and community program evaluation.
