First Aid & CPR for the Professional Rescuer
I have volunteered 25-30 hours per training for those interested in becoming lifeguards. The trainings lead to a two-year certification in First Aid/CPR/AED and Lifeguarding. My interest in becoming a Red Cross volunteer comes from my experience as a lifeguard when I was a teenager and
at the time
my working with youth as a high school teacher. By giving my students an education in mathematics it was also enjoyable to watch them launch into summer with a fun opportunity for employment.\n
U.S. Sailing
While teaching I created an outdoor adventure group for students interested in hiking
rock climbing
and sailing. Students were taken to Gorham Scout Ranch to participate in rock climbing trainings. Two weeks in the summer were spent with a group of students introducing them to windsurfing and sailing small boats.\n
