Awful
Worst professor in my life. I sat through physical chemistry and hired a tutor. Some people did well in this class. I did not do high school Chem. Bethel assumes everybody knows what is taught and what is tested.
Good
Bethel is intelligent and uses OWL assignments to help you prepare for exams. Clicker questions are for credit. Bethel will answer questions during office hours. The textbooks help, but they are not necessary. He tells jokes to lighten the mood.
Awful
Just don't take Bethel, if you can take Williamson, a much more competent professor, unlike this one. He should just do research, clearly he's incapable of teaching, and this is such an easy subject.
Good
Dr. Bethel is probably one of the best professor I ever had here at A&M. I chose him last minute from Williamson because I heard that her class was easy. My choice did not disappoint me. Yes, I admit that Chemistry 102 is a difficult class in general but, Dr. Bethel did plenty of practice problems to us and tried to teach the matter in the easiest was as possible.
Awesome
I had Prof. Bethel for CHEM119 and he's a really fantastic prof! His lectures explain the material well. There were just a few times where I got lost or I had no idea what was going on. If you study the test reviews and SI session sheets, tests aren't hard at all. 10/10 would take a class with him again.
Good
Doctor Ryan is a solid choice for Chemistry 119. I never read the textbook, but you need it for MindTap. I suggest you have Cengage Unlimited. The class is homework heavy and missing homework will add up. So, start early. For me, SI sessions were not very helpful. However, I know they were for some. The tests were mostly MC, with a couple short answers.
Good
Doctor Bethel is a great choice. Even if his lectures were long and not very engaging, he's knowledgeable on what he's talking about. If you go to his office hours, he's very willing to help. Also, his test reviews were very similar to the test which is nice. On the other hand, there's a lot of online homework though.
Average
I really admired Prof. Bethel as a person, but his class was really stressful. His lectures are pretty funny with his constant dad jokes. Homework was helpful but I feel like it was too much. Deadline is always 24 hours after lecture, so if you want to wait til after lecture, you'd be stuck just by trying to get through it instead of really learning it. Because of HW class was just really stressful!!
Awesome
Dr. Bethel is hilarious with all his chemistry puns, he makes the class interesting and kept me awake at eight in the morning. His homework is super easy and you get multiple tries to get the right answer without losing points. I had to study hard for the tests but he makes them similar to the to the sample ones he gives as review. He is a good professor overall.
Good
Doctor Bethel teaches concepts fairly fast. However, there's a lot of outside homework to help understand what he went over. He does put the most difficult questions of every concept on the tests. So be prepared and actually know the concepts or exceptions. If you do the homework and genuinely understand the material, you'll most likely get an A.
Awesome
Prof. Ryan is amazing! Class isn't an easy A, but he gives study guides that are similar to exams. His clicker questions help prepare for the 3 exams he gives. There's a good amount of homework, but be sure to keep up with it and use it to prepare for exams. I'd definitely take him again!
Awesome
Dr. Bethel is a wonderful professor. Homework is a lot, but it is such a solid way to understand the material outside the lecture. The tests are extremely reasonable and very similar to practice tests. You must work hard to get good grades in his class, but most professors do that. SI is very helpful. Professor Bethel also helps during office hours.
