I am a human geographer who studies social dimensions of natural hazards (vulnerability, disaster recovery, resilience, risk perception) and cultural/historical geography. I teach courses in the Department of Emergency Management & Disaster Science at UNT. Currently, I am interested in opportunities to unite academic research and undergraduate learning with community engagement.
Research experience with social indicators, vulnerability indices, disaster recovery measurement, geospatial databases, qualitative & geospatial data collection, participatory GIS, and GIS modeling. Fifteen years' professional experience as a licensed tour guide, historic interpreter, living history performer, and researcher. Lecturer and instructor of record for courses in meteorology, physical geography, human geography, and emergency management.
Co-Founder
Research, plan, promote, and perform in interactive educational tours and creative presentations showcasing Louisiana's diverse cultural roots. Incorporate feminist and critical geographic thought into cultural interpretive practices, with a focus on the histories of women, working classes, and marginalized racial and ethnic groups.
Living History Interpreter
Provide first-person historic interpretation for educational programs, group tours, and special events. Conduct historic research in support of these programs. Lead guided walk-in and group tours.

Conduct statistical and geospatial analysis in support of research aimed at social vulnerability measurement, risk reduction, mitigation, and community resilience to hazards. Manage quantitative and qualitative databases. Coordinate and conduct field research on long-term recovery following Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi and Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey.
