Voyageur Database Project

Assistant Director
The Voyageur Database Project is a research project run out of the department of history at the University of Ottawa. The purpose of the project was to collect and digitize voyageur work contracts for the Montreal fur trade (1740s-1830s). The database thus far comprises approximately 33
000 contracts. It provides unique insight into the nature of early business practices in Canada
and offers an opportunity to understand the continental scope of the fur trade in early Canadian history.\n\nThe project was funded through the Métis National Council Research Initiative
under the direction of Dr. Nicole St-Onge. I worked building and managing the project for two years and now serve as assistant director for the project.
