Professor Richard N. Jackson
I served as a Parole Officer for the State of Arizona for 9 years, supervising a caseload of convicted felons. Before promoting to a Community Supervision Officer, I spent 3.5 years as a Corrections Officer in a Correctional Facility. Currently I am an adjunct faculty member in the Public Safety Department at Glendale Community College in Glendale, AZ and at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, AZ. I also instruct classes at Benedictine University, serving undergrad students in Criminal Justice. I run a high school program in Law and Public Safety at Youngker High School and Buckeye Union High School. My goal is to become a full time faculty member within an Administration of Justice department.
From my assignment within the Community Corrections Division, I engaged with law enforcement and public and private services to ensure the successful reintegration of convicted individuals. I supervised a diverse caseload in many different neighborhoods of the Metro Phoenix region. I was a trained department instructor responsible for classroom and policy training of new officers.
As an adjunct professor at several colleges, I instruct a variety of classes in multi deliveries. Courses taught include Criminal Justice, Criminology, Patrol Procedures, Corrections, and Criminal Law, Law and Politics, Juvenile Justice, Community Relations and Probation and Parole. I am trained in online classroom delivery using platforms such as Canvas, Blackboard and D2L.
Educationally, I have received an Associate of Science Degree from Ventura College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology and a Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership along with a Certificate in Corrections. I have obtained a Masters Certificate in Correctional Management and am completing an MA in Criminal Justice at Arizona State University.
