The goal of this brand new position is to cultivate and maintain partnerships with the student body, the faculty (in CSE & other colleges) and to utilize the networks inside and outside WWU to increase diversity in the STEM fields.

• Creation and co-facilitation of workshops & professional development related to inclusion and equity in STEM – Developed WWU wide & UCLA partnerships
• Planning and support with inclusion events on WWU campus and in the Bellingham community

SAMI Ambassador
SAMI is a program in the Science Division of Bellevue College with the mission of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) success on campus and in the surrounding community. The ambassador position is a quarterly position that allows faculty to become involved with outreach opportunities at the college and in the surrounding community. These are a few events in which I have been involved: Seattle Science Festival 2012, Passport to Stem @ BC, SACNAS conference, the Venus Transit Viewing and associated Astronomy Lecture Series.
Talk Show Host - Spark Science
Spark Science is a KMRE radio talk show in partnership with WWU featuring interviews of scientists and professionals with knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) related fields. Our tag-line is “Sharing Stories of Human Curiosity” and our goal is to make science accessible to all.
• Interviewed almost 100 scientists from the various fields of STEM, Sci-Fi authors (Andy Weir, Gene Luen Yang, Ken Liu), Congressman Rick Larsen, Astronaut Captain Wendy Lawrence & Comedian Ryan Stiles.
• Currently, supervise five students who volunteer and/or receive WWU credit working on the show
• Project manage students who audio edit, record, help script and schedule shows
• Copy edit student’s science writing – blogs posted on the show website
