Demonstrated passion for chemistry and ability to work independently, or as a member of a team, when planning, problem solving, or implementing organized solutions in a working lab environment. Proven track record of employing effective verbal communication skills, written instructions, and interpersonal interactions when managing all aspects of a project. Dedicated to maintaining established processes while implementing innovative technologies, yet eager to perform critical data analysis and creative problem solving skills to determine process efficiency.
Research Assistant
Studied Pancreas Membrane Diffusion under mentor, Dr. Alonzo Cook.
Designed way to test normal human glucose concentration range using a glucometer without the need for blood.
Implemented testing processes and normalized reading range to specific glucometer utilizing design of experiment (DOE) principles.
Ran 5 trials of varying glucose concentrations through 3 unique types of ePTFE membranes to determine most efficient pore size.
Analyzed trial results using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits.
Coordinated schedules for team of 6, arranging lab experiments, setting task and goal reminders, and communicating progress updates via email and text.
Served as primary point-of-contact, training 5 new team members in proper membrane diffusion testing and lab processes.
Conducted literature review of over 50 peer-reviewed papers related to study topic.
Prepared 3 presentations and posters for engineering week events, Utah Conference for Undergraduate Research, and American Institute of Chemical Engineers regional conference.
Assisted in composition and review of 3 research grants for the American Diabetic Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the New York Stem Cell Institute.
Research Assistant
Studied Biological Modeling Systems under mentor, Dr. John Hedengren.
Analyzed biological systems research using state-of-the-art technology.
Developed proficiency in utilizing various statistical process control (SPC) and JMP compatible data analysis/visualization software, including Python, APmonitor, and Matlab.
Experienced in writing 2 research grant proposals to National Institutes of Health.
Secured Google as collaborative partner in collecting raw results.
Employed analytics to track illness, symptom, and outbreak related keyword web searches.
Process Technician
Collected and stored samples of plasma from donated units within GHA and FDA compliance and with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to preserve product quality.
Followed all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures in collection, storage, and shipping of biologically hazardous materials.
Utilized NextGen, later NexLynk software to process plasma samples, calibrate equipment and resolve equipment errors, and ship plasma units and samples.
I have volunteered over 100 hours of my time to teach classes on genealogy to others in both large and small group settings as well as individual sessions.
