When it comes to statistics, Professor Bates is completely incompetent. He has no idea how to use the standard TI-83/84 calculators and doesn't even try to learn how. He only teaches how to solve by hand which is more time-consuming than using a calculator. He admits that half the time, he doesn't even understand the course material himself.
