Historical Changes in the Music Industry Supply Chain

    Peter Spang Goodrich

    Stan Renard

The present study explores the historical changes of the music industry supply chain. It considers value propositions such as the vertical integration of the historical music industry

    the current revolution in technology

and the positioning of the artist within the music industry supply chain. Several questions are tackled: What is the positioning of the artist in the new digital era? Given the changes of position of the major labels and the positioning of the artist

what are the descriptive and prescriptive possibilities should the majors disappear and be replaced by alternative elements in the music industry supply chain? Social Network Analysis (SNA) is utilized as the methodological tool for the creation of non-linear and adaptive models.

Historical Changes in the Music Industry Supply Chain

Complexity science affords a number of novel tools for examining terrorism

particularly network analysis and NK-Boolean fitness landscapes. The following paper explores various aspects of terrorist networks which can be illuminated through applications of non-linear dynamical systems modeling to terrorist network structures. Of particular interest are some of the emergent properties of terrorist networks as typified by the 9-11 hijackers network

    properties of centrality

    hierarchy and distance

as well as ways in which attempts to disrupt the transmission of information through terrorist networks may be expected to produce greater or lesser levels of fitness in those organizations.

The purpose of the following paper is to demonstrate that the “limits of physics” are in a very important way determined by the conceptual framework and language of discourse that we use to describe physical reality. In this paper we examine three areas where the structure of discourse has been particularly difficult. In this regard we examine three problems

the problem of time (which is discussed in two sections of the paper)

the problem of non-locality in quantum mechanics and some related general difficulties of interpretation specific to the Copenhagen school

and the concept of maximality as it is employed with respect to cosmic inflation in general relativity and quantum cosmology.

The Fundamental Importance of Discourse in Theoretical Physics

Authored a position paper for the defractionalization of Native American Tribal Lands under the settlement provisions of Cobell v. Complexity Modeling of Terrorist and Money Laundering Activities

This project proposes novel applications of complex adaptive systems theory to develop massive automated parallel processing systems which will enable the tracking and mapping of the dynamics of money laundering behaviors and derive their causal and identification factors in real time. The methodology which this project proposes consists of undertaking data analysis using high-performance computing systems to create algorithms that identify and predict criminal or terrorist behavior not merely by looking at previous data characteristics and pattern matching but rather by developing the 'Physics' behind these networks and creating a multidimensional

dynamic 'landscape' or phase space that describes and characterizes this behavior. Building on the mathematical construct of this landscape we would then identify and examine criminal behavioral 'attractors' within the landscape. The potential candidates for the underlying dynamical system models are based upon the work undertaken by Fellman
