Awesome
Kierst is one of the best professors at University of New Mexico, He will do his best just to make sure you understand the cases and the law. For those students who doesn't take any BS, it's difficult for them to understand his class but he is really an amazing teacher. Even though it is not easy to write papers but he is always willing to lend help. He's really knowledgeable about politics and law. If you are a Political Science student, I will highly recommend that you must take his class.
Awesome
Professor Kierst is an amazing lecturer. Participation is graded by attendance, but you'll want to go anyway. The class consists of three essays, the one is optional to replace lowest grade and a final essay that can't be dropped. Those were very long. They were based on assigned readings and in-class lectures. He grades them toughly and he looks for specific things. Just fulfill them and you'll get a good grade.
Poor
Professor Kierst is very strict and is a stickler for paper length. If you miss the paper by two words, the highest grade you'll get is a 70. His class can use a little more inspiration. He makes you read outside the class, then come in, discuss the exact same material for 75 minutes. Also, he doesn't allow technology in the classroom.
Poor
Prof. Kierst is well-informed, but he enjoys bragging about it. I believe he has good intentions, but his grading style is so ambiguous that it's difficult to say what he wants in his papers. All of the tests are long essays with a lot of information. I'd save myself the trouble of taking Prof. Kierst's class if I could go back in time.
Awful
Prof. Kierst didn't teach at all, he simply played tricks to get students. He'd give instructions for the test that were a bit confusing. Then he changed his mind about them and began ranting at the students, accusing them of making him seem terrible. I didn't enjoy this session since I was more concerned with figuring out his gimmicks than with actually learning.
Awesome
Professor Kierst is the best professor I've ever had. His lectures are funny and informative. I feel that I'm getting smarter during his lectures. It is necessary to read cases for class discussions. The papers were difficult, but he was willing to help. I recommend his class to anyone.
Awesome
Professor Kierst stands out as the top instructor within the political science department. His course comprises just three essays and active participation. Despite the extensive reading of intricate cases and dense papers, the learning experience has been incredibly enriching. The class, facilitated by this exceptional professor, is truly outstanding.
Good
Peter is a really good teacher. Just be ready to write not one, not two, but at least three papers, about 5 to 10 pages long each. On top of that, he's not lenient when it comes to grading and you're gonna have to give it your all to get a good grade. Don't count on this being an effortless A kind of class.
