Good
Professor Garfield's lectures were okay and he seemed like a nice guy. The midterms were similar to his practice exams. A little bit difficult, but doable though. The finals were optional, because of what was happening at that time. Do the homework, since it will really helps you a lot.
Awesome
All math profs I met were very nice. Math 4A isn't actually hard. Class notes are only what you'll need. Prof. Garfield's notes are well-organized and examples will help you a lot! I'd definitely take his class again!
Awesome
The course itself is definitely tougher than 34A. However, Professor Garfield managed it very well. He's very understanding and wants to help the students. There's homework due a few times a week. But if you take the time to do it, it'll definitely help your grade.
Awful
Prof. Peter is good at teaching. His lectures were very helpful in understanding. However, he's very disorganized and managed to leave two to three weeks of lectures untaught. He's such a procrastinator and he isn't responsive!!
Good
Professor Garfield is such a nice and funny professor. Just go to his office hours for candy. His class was very easy and will require not much effort.
Awful
Prof. Peter is very disorganized and I feel like he always procrastinated in posting slides. I actually learned nothing from him, but I got an A+. If it isn't your last math class, you'll probably suffer in future ones!
Poor
I took Professor Garfield class online on Spring 2020. He's a good teacher. I liked how he did his explanations. Although his slides had mistakes, they were clear and easy to understand. I never had to read the textbook. And as long as you go attend his lectures, it's an easy A. The biggest problem is that he didn't publish two weeks of lectures. Because of this, that could hurt my future math classes.
Awesome
Prof. Garfield's a total gem! To make sure that we really understand the material, he interacts with us during class and uses iclicker (enforces compulsory attendance). He rounds your grade up to B if you get at least C in his class. Homework isn't terrible because most answers are in the book. We had 12 questions at 8:00 AM before every lecture which won't take 1 hr.
Awful
Professor Garfield is literally an embarrassment to the math department, although the University of California Santa Barbara math department is an embarrassment itself. This man didn't finish his lectures for week five, when we're literally entering week nine. So the result is, he had to skip a few lectures. Also, he doesn't know how to teach and is lazy. He makes a lot of mistakes on his slides every lecture and it's very annoying.
Poor
Prof. Garfield has lots of errors in his slides. He never actually posted his office hours and I was 8 lectures behind most of the time. Such a terrible teacher. Thank God I still got an A.
Average
Prof. Peter is pretty clear and focused. However, he's disorganized and he tends to forget to upload lectures. I actually had to catch up everytime he uploads 3-4 lectures a couple days before exams. We had lots of homework as well!!! I only learned best through CLAS and by reading the textbook.
Good
He gives clear lectures! There is a lot of homework (one for each lecture), but it isn't too bad, and he actually explains things well.
Average
I had this professor for Math 34A and now I'm in his 34B class. He's nice and cares about us, his students. But, let me tell you, the 34-level calculus classes are tough, messy, and confusing. That's not his fault though. He's trying to help us out. The biggest problem with him is that he hardly ever answers emails, or if he does, it takes him a super long time.
