I am a tax senior manager within the worldwide direct tax reporting group at Amazon and specialize in US GAAP ASC 740 analysis. My primary responsibilities include analyzing income tax accounting impacts of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) as well as new business initiatives and restructurings. I also oversee the forecasting process (particularly of transfer pricing computations), perform valuation allowance assessments, review the ETR, oversee external (SEC) tax disclosures, and assist with the US GAAP audit of our tax provision.

Taught multiple undergraduate accounting classes (each section containing approximately 60 students) at the Michael G. Foster School of Business. Topics included theoretical structure of financial accounting, financial disclosures, revenue recognition, and inventory measurement. Business and political context of accounting is also explored via Harvard Business Cases on WorldCom, Apple, Lehman Brothers, and Exxon Mobil.
Independently designed the curriculum, class materials, and exams.

With regards to income tax, I oversee forecasting, management reporting, quarterly SEC tax reporting and tax-related disclosures in SEC filings, and lead tax accounting M&A and transaction operations processes.

Managed large-scale federal corporate and partnership compliance engagements.
Managed tax provisions, many of which are for SEC multinational clients.
Researched tax treatment for various unusual and complex transactions and drafted technical memorandums to support the conclusions.
Cultivated robust client relationships by providing a full suite of tax services, collaborating with subject matter professionals as well as professionals within other services lines, and actively assisting with business development and identifying additional value-add tax opportunities.
Mentored and developed junior staff and new seniors by acting as a peer advisor, providing formal and informal feedback, and initiating concept-specific training sessions for the office. Spent a month in Buenos Aires, Argentina mentoring and coaching a group of thirteen new staff at a newly opened global talent hub.
