Kennesaw State University - Media Arts

I recently relocated to North Dallas, TX and looking to meet people in the arts community in the surrounding areas. I am visual artist with experience in education, arts administration, art handling, and curation.

With influences ranging from pop culture, quantum physics, NASA, and digital anomalies, Thompson considers the image’s role in shaping the individual and the collective persona. Thompson received a BA in film and video from Georgia State University in 2005 and a MFA in photography from SCAD-Atlanta in 2012. From 2011-2013, he worked as curatorial assistant in the department of modern and contemporary art at the High Museum of Art. During this time, he assisted on a wide range of group and solo exhibitions including KAWS: Down Time, Rashid Johnson: Message To Our Folks, Picasso to Warhol, and Fast Forward: Modern Moments 1913 >> 2013. Thompson has curated the group exhibition Racecar for the Zuckerman Museum of Art, Short Shorts: The Jump Cut at Whitespace Gallery, and Kiki Smith: Rituals for the High Museum of Art. He has taught photography and video at University of Georgia and Kennesaw State University.

Thompson's work has appeared in Art in America, ArtsATL, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, The Atlantan, Bad at Sports, Burnaway, Creative Loafing, OtherPeoplesPixels Blog, Oz Magazine, WABE, and the television series Satisfaction. In 2014, he was a finalist for the Artadia: The Fund for Art and Dialogue Award and nominated for the John Gutman Photography Fellowship Award. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, China and France. Thompson’s work is in the permanent collection of Sir Elton John, the High Museum of Art, the Fulton County Arts Council, Museum of Contemporary Art-GA, the Tavistock Group, LLC, and many private collections.
