Dr. Santos-Sopena holds a B.A., and M.A., in Foreign Languages and Literatures (English) from Universidad Complutense (Spain), a M.A., in Spanish Language and Literature from The Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.), a Ph.D., Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture - Comparative and Cultural Studies from University of Maryland - College Park, and a Certificate in Arts Administration from New York University (NYU).
Organizes international and educational programs, coordinates cultural events, and designs communication, social media and digital marketing strategies to promote several international students' services and arts management initiatives.
Dr. Santos-Sopena teaches a diverse variety of Cultural Studies courses. He teaches seminars about film, art, music, history, composition, and literature for Spanish as a Second Language, Hispanic Heritage Speakers, and English Culture and Literature. He is interested in topics such as dream, city, literary theory, and journalism. He has taught a variety of courses about Catalan language, literature, and culture.
As an educator, he holds a very active research agenda in using technology in language, culture, history, film, and literature higher education courses and Applied Linguistics. He is interested in Online, Blended-Hybrid, and e-Learning courses.
Dr. Santos-Sopena’s research interests include Medieval and Classical culture, history, and literature at the Mediterranean and Transatlantic thought. His research specialization is the language, culture, history, and literature of XIV - XVII centuries Iberian Peninsula, especially European Humanism, Renaissance, and Baroque.
Dr. Santos-Sopena is Official Member and Contributor of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (A.N.L.E.).

En la actualidad es Profesor Ayudante Doctor en la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Departamento de Lingüística Aplicada a la Ciencia y a la Tecnología) y coordinador del proyecto de innnovación educativa: Aprendizaje basado en retos para la mejora de las destrezas comunicativas en la asignatura English for Professional and Academic Communication (EPAC): Creación del Aula Multicultural. Sus líneas de investigación y docencia giran en torno al estudio de las conexiones y las transmisiones culturales e intelectuales entre el lenguaje, la cultura y el pensamiento crítico socio-cultural en la tradición peninsular ibérica y del Mediterráneo. La metodología empleada en su investigación parte de las Humanidades Digitales, para examinar sus intersecciones, convergencias y divergencias dentro de una vertiente multidisciplinaria y de corte comparatista de las literaturas castellana, catalana, inglesa, italiana y francesa. A nivel pedagógico forma parte de diversos grupos de investigación a nivel internacional desarrollando nuevos métodos didácticos y tecnológicos en el aprendizaje del español como lengua extranjera y la traducción. Algunas de sus investigaciones más recientes son: “Migración y lengua en la enseñanza ELE: aprendientes lengua romance en la Comunidad de Madrid”, "Heritage Speaker Writing Competence and Assessment through Identity-Based, Student-Centered Exams and Portfolios", "Blended Learning in a Foreign Language Classroom and Online Writing Tools" y "Using Facebook in Education".
