Biography

Ramapo College of New Jersey - Science

Instructor of Biology at SUNY Orange
Higher Education
Nicole
Rodstrom
Greater New York City Area
I am currently a full time Instructor of Biology at SUNY Orange. I have experience teaching college and high school. I formerly was an Instructor of Biology at Ramapo College, a four year public institution. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I was a faculty mentor for research students on a project carried out in collaboration with another faculty member. We investigated the relationship between a trans membrane protein and an enzyme using both molecular and cellular techniques. I optimized a 2D-PAGE protocol to potentially investigate the phosphorylation patterns of proteins found in rat osteosarcoma cells as well as optimizing a western blot protocol for cells exposed to CRISPR cas-9 to analyze differences in protein expression.

For my Master's in Biology I focused on RNA and proteins, including transcriptome assembly and optimization of a protocol for saltwater fish samples for 2D-PAGE analysis. I have experience in proper care and handling of both vertebrate and invertebrate aquatic species. My research interests include; conservation of endangered species, genetic analysis of symbiotic relationships, animal genomes, and protein analysis. I also have an interest in research and development of cosmetics.
