My research was on identifying modifiable risk factors predictive for functional decline in geriatric patients undergoing abdominal and cardiothoracic surgery. \n\nI was also chief research coordinator for the Longitudinal Assessment of Bariatric Surgery (LABS) at the Virginia Mason Federal Way Medical Center. LABS was an NIH-funded

national study examining the long term effects bariatric surgery has patients' physical/mental health and quality of life.

Clinical focus was in assessment of geriatrics and older adults with a minor rotations in pre-operative bariatric evaluations and pediatrics. \n\nPrimary research was in assessment of the impact of metabolic syndrome and obesity on neurocognitive function and bone marrow transplant. Also continued research on the therapeutic efficacy of anti-retroviral medication and cognition in HIV-infected adult populations.
