Associate Vice-President for Student Success
Dr. Nancy KingSanders has served in a variety of roles at Texas A&M University-Kingsville including: Associate Vice-President for Student Success; Associate Dean for Graduate Studies; Administrative Intern for Provost and Vice-President of Academic Affairs; Graduate Music Education Coordinator; and earning tenure and the rank of professor of music.
With over 28 years of higher education experience in the fields of leadership, student success, retention, time to degree and applied music, Nancy led the institution’s participation in John Gardner’s Foundations of Excellence, where she established Texas A&M University Kingsville’s first-year experience, centralized academic advising, and the Graduation Pathway Success Center, resulting in an increase in First-Time in College retention from 54% in 2011 to 71.4% in 2016. As a pedagogue, she frequently has presented clarinet instructional seminars at Texas Music Educators Association Conventions, while writing pedagogical articles about the clarinet for The Instrumentalist Journal. Dr. KingSanders also serves as a consultant and adjudicator for schools throughout Texas. The Corpus Christi Caller Times has described "Nancy KingSanders' playing with the Corpus Christi Symphony brilliant and exciting, as exhibited by her opening solo in Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue."
Dr. KingSanders holds a doctorate in clarinet performance from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Master’s Degree in Clarinet Performance with a minor in Music Theory from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor of Music Education Degree with a minor in French Education from Texas State University.
