Ph.D.
I received a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis
MN. \nI used electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry
chronocoulometry and chronoamperometry to study how charge traveled across polymer films on electrodes. I also performed experiments using surface analysis and plasma chemistry.\nMy dissertation was entitled \"An Electrochemical Study of Ions Immobilized within Nafion Polymer Films.\"

This paper describes how a method for fluorescent detection of the polymeric scale control agent compares with other methods. In addition
the use of this method and an example of how this method was used in trouble-shooting issues at an industrial site is shown.

Closed Cooling System Treatment: Using Phosphinosuccinate Oligomers as an Alternative to Molybdate
This project had two aspects. The first aspect was to determine what properties and structure were important in the inhibition of a particular scale. Knowing this
the second aspect of this project was to develop new scale inhibitors
based on polyaspartic acid. This could be done by controlling the MW of the resulting polymer and/or by modifying the polyaspartic acid.

Development of Solid Chemical Programs for Cooling Water Systems
The purpose of this project was to develop and commercialize multi-functional chemical products
feeder
and control methodology for cooling water systems. .Additional solid products were developed for hard water and soft water cooling systems. These products were manufactured and distributed worldwide and have been used in hundreds of small systems
thus generating thousands of dollars in revenue.

Development and Commercilization of Fluorescent Tagged Polymers for Scale Control
The goal of this team was to develop and commercialize a second generation fluorescent tagged polymer that would overcome some of the issues of the previous tagged polymer. Alternatively
newer algorithms were considered as an approach to solving the problem.
