I received my Ed.D. in Educational Leadership (2008) from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) . Prior to becoming a university professor at TAMUCC, I worked at a hospital based fitness facility (Covenant Health System) in Lubbock, Texas as a Wellness Coordinator for 12 years. During that time, I worked with Phase II & III cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation and other special populations, such as, diabetics, and HIV patients. Along with those experiences, I have also been involved with stress testing, teaching water aerobics & arthritis classes. As the Wellness Coordinator, I was responsible for managing the wellness staff, wellness programming & facility management.
Upon receiving my masters in sport management from Texas Tech University in 2001, I moved to Corpus Christi and began my career as a university professor at TAMUCC. I am currently working as the Internship Coordinator with the Kinesiology department. My research interests include electronic portfolios, sports performance, adult/youth fitness, and higher education leadership. I enjoy being active through running, weight lifting, pilates and yoga.
