Well known legal expert and speaker/author in the areas of constitutional law, criminal law, family law, legal ethics, evidence and procedure. Experience in courts at all levels and with numerous legislative bodies. Endowed professor of law for over 26 years having taught at Southern University Law Center, Georgetown Law School, and American University's Washington College of Law. Member of Advisory Committee to US Civil Rights Commission, of the Louisiana Law Institute, and numerous boards and task forces. Former Fellow with the US Supreme Court.

I consult with a number of groups and individuals, including legislators, about the law, about legislative drafting, and about the process of taking an idea and making it a law. I draft legislation and, for topics on which I have expertise, testify for or against legislation.
I also have a part time practice of law occasionally representing clients with unusual or cutting edge issues in the areas of religious freedom, family law, and criminal law.
Fellow
I instructed delegations from 70+ countries on the U.S. Constitution, separation of powers, and the court system in the U.S and created a power point slide for future use doing same. I helped draft the Criminal Benchbook for U.S. Magistrates. I did a white paper on the organization and funding of public defender offices throughout the United States. I wrote summaries of about 100 cases for the Cameras in the Courtroom project and videotaped a training video for use by federal clerks in the future. I helped inform federal judges on issues related to evidence and criminal and civil procedure for their committee work on amending those codes.I attended oral arguments during the term, presentations by the Supreme Court Historical Society during the term, presentations by all officers of the Court regarding what their office did, the bi-annual Judicial Conference, and various social events at the Court. I attended weekly training with the Congressional Fellows and events with the White House Fellows. I had monthly meetings with the top administrators of agencies throughout Washington, DC.
