Director of Academic Support and Instructional Systems

Faculty Services Coordinator
Initiated and coordinated a comprehensive faculty-training program in instructional technology and distance education through the Center for Instructional Technology (CIT); worked with the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Coordinator of Learning Systems to provide strategic leadership in the areas of instructional technology and distance education; worked with the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs to help assure that the quality of distance learning offerings meets or exceeds the quality of traditional offerings; served as a point of contact for external groups interested in Athens State's distance education technologies, policies, and procedures; collaborated with other Alabama Community College System (ACCS) institutions on state-wide distance education initiatives; maintained an understanding of emerging trends in the use of instructional technologies; attended user conferences related to instructional technology and/or distance education; sought external funding related to instructional technology and distance education; remained an active member of the faculty by teaching a minimum of two courses per academic year; Served on the Distance Learning Committee and other committees as requested.

Taught online and traditional format Information Systems Management and Management courses in the College of Business and served as a student adviser. Established and directed the Center for Instructional Technology through which I led faculty training workshops on distance learning systems and provided technical support to distance learning faculty and students.

Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems
Taught in the Computer Information Systems department. Courses taught included C programming, Visual Basic programming, and courses covering Microsoft Office products. Served on committees, participated in grant projects, acted as a master adviser, and served as a faculty adviser for the Computer Club. Participated in the development and implementation of a new curriculum for the CIS program. Member of the grant team that developed and implemented a new Precision Agriculture program in the Agriculture department. Conducted the preliminary data gathering, data analysis, and began the draft report for the CIS department's next program review by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Assistant Professor of Computer Science
Developed and implemented a new curriculum for the Information Systems concentration. Taught Introduction to Computer Science, Introduction to Data Processing, COBOL, Programming with C, Telecommunications and Networking, Decision Support and Expert Systems, Advanced Programming, Database Design, and a Seminar in Information Systems. Served as chairman of the Computer Resources Committee and as a faculty representative on the Computer Policies committee. Oversaw the operation of campus computer labs for one year.
