I instructed students (co-ed
aged 13-18) at a week-long summer camp to teach computer programming and debugging skills. This was based on my NSF-funded work using an online debugging puzzle game we created called Gidget (helpgidget.com)
where students played through the game
and also designed their own levels.

Graduate Student Researcher with my advisor
Amy J. Ko
PhD.\n\nInitially
I worked on exploring how collocated software developers collaborate using changing representations of software issues reported by end-users.\n\nNext
I focused on my dissertation work
which involved computing education pedagogy in the context of online video games. More specifically
I explored effective and engaging ways to teach programming and debugging skills to novices
and how to assess their progress.\n\n(Publications can be found on my website.)

Graduate Student Researcher for Robert Glushko
PhD for Spring 2008. Here
we worked together to create a new course called Information Systems Service Design (ISSD)
which is currently being offered as a masters course at UC Berkeley.\n\nGraduate Student Researcher for Kimiko Ryokai
PhD for Summer 2008-Spring 2009. Here
we created tangible user interfaces for children to learn computer programming concepts. We have two publications paper on this project (with one receiving a peer-reviewed
best paper award).

Principal Investigator - National Science Foundation Grant OISE-1210205 (EAPSI).\n\nI was sponsored by the USA (National Science Foundation) and South Korea (National Research Foundation) governments to head a three-month research project in Korea. My primary project explored cultural differences and attitudes in the use of a computer programming game. My second project explored how software developers use social networking features in a collaborative online software repository to find projects to work on.
