Good
Of course this class is hard, taking it with anybody is going to be hard. This is of course remedied by the fact that Mike is always very willing to help out his students. There is a need to reach out, he will not babysit you and let you get through without putting in the effort. It can sometimes be a bit more difficult to get answers from him, but make sure you're asking the right questions.
Awful
Professor Hughes is horrible. He does not teach during class at all but attendance is still mandatory. He says the class is a flipped classroom so everything is up to the student to learn outside of class. If that's the case then why waste student's time by making them go to class and try to crack jokes about his wife not giving him his allowance. Capsim is used heavily for this course.
Average
Prof. Hughes is an amazing guy. As a person, he's super likeable and he's the type of prof that you'd want to go get a beer with. What I only didn't like about his course was out of his control like Capsim and weak rubrics. However, he does an amazing job of making the class fun and manageable.
Awesome
Prof. Hughes is awesome! I took his online class and he's very friendly! He really makes sure that he wants us to be comfortable with online experience. He's very approachable and he's a fair grader. Honestly, you can't go wrong with him.
Good
This class is extremely disorganized. Stick to the format of the sample paper on Canvas for Critical Analysis papers. Use Reddit threads and YouTube videos for Capsim, and make sure you chat to your group frequently. Information quizzes test on material that isn't covered in class; instead of buying a textbook, research the questions online. There are no tests in this class!
Awesome
This class is tough. However, Professor Hughes does an excellent job of explaining to his students on the first day of class what is his expectation. There are three Critical Analysis papers in his class. Also, make sure you communicate with your Capsim group frequently as you are with them throughout the semester while you also have two case presentations with them. Explore the software as well and be prepared.
Awesome
Professor Hughes is a good person. However, his classes were quite boring and lackluster. The quizzes were quite random and did not cover any of the material used. Also, his feedback on articles is unclear. Honestly, the less research you do, the better. I suggest you look up the Capsim on Reddit since it will be easy. On the other hand, he brings good energy to the classroom and wants his students to succeed.
