Meredith O'Brien is a Boston area writer and journalism educator. Her latest book, Uncomfortably Numb: A Memoir, is slated to be published in the spring of 2020. Her previous book, Mr. Clark's Big Band, won a 2018 Independent Publisher Book Award and was a finalist in the 2018 Foreword INDIES Book competition (Education category).

Wrote Mr. Clark's Big Band: A Year of Laughter, Tears & Jazz in a Middle School Band Room (Wyatt-MacKenzie Publishing, 2017), a narrative nonfiction account of a Massachusetts middle school jazz band from a small town overcoming grief with music and camaraderie while under the guidance of an unorthodox, big-hearted music director. Finalist for 2018 Forewords Indie Book of the Year Award (Education category) and bronze award winner in the 2018 Independent Publishers Book Awards (Education category). Book was featured in a number of publications including the Boston Globe.
